The Illuminated Galileo Thermometer produces a unique effect with a striking combination of light, glass and liquid. A glass tube filled with liquid houses numerous multi-colored vials that rise or fall with the temperature, responding to heat from three of our custom-made 25w amber-colored Edison bulbs. This extraordinary piece has two full-range dimmer switches on its base to control side and rear lighting separately, allowing fine adjustments to light levels from barely visible to cheerily bright. The base is a handsome box which can be opened and used to store your things.
The bulbs are pleasantly warm and bright, with a slight amber hue and a subtle gold mirrored finish, very easy on the eye. Our bulbs are rated to last 3,000 hours at full brightness and much longer if dimmed at all. Extra replacement bulbs are ready available for a mere $5 each.
You can tell the ambient temperature by seeing which vial floats closest to the top. The vials are labelled with a brass tag indicating the temperature.
The piece is 20" high on a sturdy box that is 9.5x 6.5" x 3.5".
All electrical materials used are UL, CE, and/or CCC approved. Like all of our pieces, it has been thoroughly tested for reliability and soundness.
