Designed after an early 1900s Volt Meter, its needle shows you the amount of current being supplied to the bulbs. The Gallant Volt Meter features three dimmable Edison bulbs arranged in line at its top. A rotary knob rheostat switch controls the level of light, from quite bright to just barely visible.
The meter needle actually measures the amount of AC voltage being delivered to the bulbs, from zero to the typical 110-120V household current depending on how much the light is dimmed or brightened. It does not test voltages.
This object is quite unique; few such of these handsome-looking instruments are still to be found, which is why we have designed and assembled our own version from new materials and components. This elegant black and brass Spencer Buffalo microscope was originally built in 1921. Its main optical parts are lost to history, so we re-purposed it to become a source of light, and a salute to the spirit of inquiry and scientific knowledge.
The two custom candelabra-base bulbs are fully dimmable via the knob on the main tube. The lights may be raised or lowed using the large focus knob.
Note the adjustable mirror, which allows light from the lower bulb to be reflected in most any direction.

This vintage typewriter was a must-have for any post-war office or home. But while it's typing days are done, the Illuminated Remington Typewriter serves as an outstanding conversation piece and attractive source of light.
The device features tubular candelabra style Edison bulbs operated by the paper advance roller; turn the roller's knob to brighten or dim light as desired. Once dimmed or turned off, the carriage return arm may be pumped to brighten the bulbs. (See filmed demonstration below)
