illuminated objects NOW At boston area's
the Blue Butterfly
|
|
We are proud and excited to have formed a partnership with The Blue Butterfly, a new shop outside Boston at 113 Trapelo Road in Belmont MA that carries carefully chosen artwork and other quality items, and works with several artists to consign their work.
Owners Erin and Jeff discovered Illuminated Objects at Artscape in Baltimore, MD, and honored us with an invitation to carry a selection of our pieces regularly at the Blue Butterfly. If you are in the area, it is worth the trip to discover everything the shop has to offer, and support a great endeavor! You can find the current selection of Illuminated Objects available in the shop at the Blue Butterfly website. |
illuminated objects in baltimore area
Dr. White's Illuminated Objects has begun to expand its horizons, with shows around the Chesapeake Bay area and New York this past year. Illuminated Objects are now available at Su Casa, a high-quality home furnishing store featuring artist's works, located in the Fells Point area of downtown Baltimore, and in nearby Elicott City. We are proud to be found in the main display windows at Su Casa!

Rotating Illuminated Fan: Invented in the Illuminarium lab |
Dr. White has created numerous popular Illuminated Fans.; often, people would ask, "Do they turn?" Until recently, no. After much thought and experimentation, we developed a method to permit motion in an Illuminated Object. A small, quiet motor does the work; it is operated separately from the dimming function. How does it keep from twisting up the connections? Only the Doctor knows...
Electricity in motion poses numerous challenges, including the reliability of the connection, speed of the turning bulbs (too fast and they are destroyed or their lifetime reduced), and the placement of the appropriate equipment in the object itself. This kinetic artwork has been thoroughly tested and proven both reliable and attractive, rotating at 30 RPM, one complete rotation every two seconds. This is safe enough to both provide an attractive rotation speed and to preserve bulb life.
We now generally have a small selection of different styles of our Illuminated Rotating fans available. Have a look in the Illuminarium Shop to see what is currently on offer.

Illuminated objects honor outstanding musicians
Martin Barre of Jethro Tull
|
In recognition of the amazing musicianship of the world-class guitarist Martin Barre of Jethro Tull, our Dr. White had the honor of presenting Mr. Barre an Illuminated Microphone following a recent performance. He is touring on his own currently with an extraordinary band and an unforgettable show. He is also a true gentleman and one of the nicest people we've ever encountered.

Tony Orlando
Mr. Orlando has performed at a huge number of charity events over the years since his huge hits in the 70s. To honor his work for the Carson Scholars Fund, the organization presented him with our Illuminated Microphone at a recent fundraiser.
